Art-school graduate Chrissie Nicholson-Wild
fell in love with corsetry over a decade ago and has dedicated her
life to studying its secrets. Offering a contemporary slant on
classic designs, she has built her own niche combining exquisite
workmanship with fantastical creativity.
She says, “I love the aesthetics of the
corset, the flow of the lines, the uber feminine silhouette it
creates. I love that when you wear a corset you feel like you're
wearing armour, and you know that all the eyes in the room are on
you. It's a strange kind of confidence to be put on show, and yet
feel entirely protected.” Curve Couture's last collection 'Fleurs Du Mal' was showcased at London Alternative Fashion Week 2012.
Wild says, "The 'Fleurs Du Mal' Collection takes it's title from the Baudelaire poem in which beauty (in a variety of metaphors) struggles in a savage and decadent time, and draws it's aesthetic qualities from the sweeping curves and graceful floral motif's of Art Nouveau."
